All That Time Waiting Outside the Bape Store
KiD CuDi showed up an hour & a half late but everybody forgot the time when he showed up on the back of a truck with Chip Tha Ripper and a set of large speakers. He greeted the crowd then went on to perform a few old songs and a slew of new ones from the album. Then he told us good night as "Mr. Rager" began playing and he performed it as the truck drove off...
We paused for a ssecond or two... then without thought we chased after the truck.
"Hey, Mr. Rager, Mr. Rager.. Tell us where your going.. Tell us where your headed"
Pushing people, who decided to give up the chase and stand, out of the way.
"Mr. Rager, tell me some of your stories.. Tell us of your travels"
Running through... the street at top speed without a thought about traffic & cars on the road
I felt my legs get weak as I ran and my heart was beating out of my chest but we waited since noon in the cold for this so we couldn't give up now.
"Hey, Mr. Rager, Mr. Rager"
We turned corners at top speed, pushing whoever was in the way down.
"Mr. Rager, let me tag along.. Can we take the journey?"
As we finally caught up to CuDi's performance at a red light. He finished the rest of the very relevant song
"Can we take that journey?"
"I'm off on an adventure"
"Hey Mr. Rager, Hey Mr. Rager"
"I'm on my way to heaven"
Best Night Ever

Are you an "Artist"?
At what point do you become an artist?
At what point are you no longer a person who makes art? And you become an "artist"
Is there a certain amount of time you must put into your art before you considered an artist?
Is there a specific amount of your type of art that you must produce before you are considered an artist?
Or can anyone claim the title of "artist" at any point they feel a little creative?
Do you have to earn a specific amount of money off of your art before you are able to claim the title of "artist"?
or maybe the word holds no value at all?...

Inspiration
"You need new people to say new things that will inspire new thoughts... Then you can start this process over for someone new" - Odelle "Capital Ode" George-Perreira
My 11th grade music teacher, and somebody I humbly respect, once told me that there is no such thing as "Writers' Block". He said that artists simple had two seperate settings of which they had no control over. Those settings being the "input" and "output" modes.
He believed that during an artists output mode they were functioning in a way that allowed them to create with ease. It's as if all the gears in the artists' immagination simultaneoulsy began to spin in perfect harmony. This is not to say that sed artist will create a Mona Lisa relevant to their own talents, but more so that this is the prime time for them to create their art.
On the other hand, my music teacher believed that "Input Mode" was the exact opposite. The point most artists experience and just chock up to "writers block". He believed when someone experienced this mode they were simply uninspired and their bodies were soaking up information instead of releasing it. During input mode the artist would soak up information until they came across something that would flip the switch, sending them into output mode once again.
I bring this up to say that I know I haven't been blogging lately and that the latest blogs before my absence have been nothing more than videos I find interesting. The reason for this is (1) I'm lazy and (2) I am currently in "Input Mode". It takes a lot to run a blog, especially when your blog partners don't pull their weight (yea, I said it).
This lack of inspiration has spilled into my music. I wouldn't be here typing this now if I wasn't inspired by a tweet I saw on twitter.. and I wouldn't have been timeline jocking on twitter if I wasn't laying across my bed unable to think of a way to start a song I have an idea for.
In a way this may be a good thing. A good thing for the people who actually read this blog (Who am I kidding?) because I may start taking this more seriously. I find it easier to write a blog post in the sense that I can write about any random crap that comes to mind. Whereas when I try to do the same with songs, sometimes I get bored with the idea before I finish the first verse (if I get that far). The only problem in my way is I'm way too lazy to write a blog post this long very often... especially when nobody's reading them -___-

Gibbs, whose official LP Babyface Killa is being cooked up now, said the name Str8 Killa is just his declaration that he doesn’t deal with the B.S.
“I’m trying to do this gangsta music,” he said. “I just wanted to hit people right in the mouth with this. Let the world know what I’m on. Let them know I’m at the forefront of this. That’s what I grew up on. That’s the music everybody gravitated towards in the early ’90s. I’m not trying to duplicate that, but I’m carrying the torch.” – MTV

OUT IN LONDON PREPARING 'ACT II'
While Kanye has got the Internets going nuts, Jay Electronica has been residing in London for the past few weeks, working relentlesly in the studio, putting the concluding touches to the highly anticipated debut album, Act II. Jay invited me down to the studio to hear some of the cuts of the album, and although I can’t talk on the specifics, from what I heard, I can say that it is everything you expect times 10. It is a masterpiece, diverse Hip Hop excellence. The guest features that he has pulled out of the bag for the collaborations are pretty much beyond your current comprehension, and the journey making this album is as inspiring as the music itself. He’s done it, followed the code, cracked the safe, got the formula. The wait is almost over. – DJ Semtex

Kanye West – Power (Video)
So what exactly is the piece?
Well, it’s a video portrait of Kanye. It starts with a very tight shot introducing him that’s kind of a reinvention of a neoclassical painting. It pulls back from the shot, without any cuts, and we reveal the video canvas, populated by all these characters who are depicted in various stages of undress and decadence. The iconography comes from Roman iconography, Renaissance iconography, and it connects to the sexuality of the music as well. As we reveal the setting for it, there’s a feeling of a moment of transition for him. A fall from grace, if you will. It visualizes power, and him as the icon as power, and then at the end of the piece it challenges the power that I set up at the beginning. It’s an elliptical piece of storytelling.
How did you guys end up using that kind of imagery?
He approached me via my gallery and he wanted to do something that wasn’t a music video. He wanted a video work that would accompany the music. I said, “That’s great, because I don’t do music videos.” I wanted to give it an epic feeling. The song feels very personal, but the orchestration and the production of the track is epic and I wanted to give it something hypersensational and exaggerated.
And I understand you’ve heard that Dark Twisted Fantasy is the name of the album?
I’ve heard that’s the latest name. I would say not locked-in, and it would probably not get locked until closer to the time of the album release. - Marco Brambilla (Director)

Drake Speaks On Upcoming R&B Mixtape (Video)
“Me and 40 working on it,” Drake said in Toronto at his OVO Festival. “I got you. I think I got a great body of work with that tape. I’m gonna do it like I do all my other tapes. I’m gonna make a night out of it. Just make sure you’re on the Net that night downloading, and it’s yours. I feel the people deserve it. It’s hard for me to put out free rap albums these days. So the best I can do is switch genres and put something out for free. It’ll be yours very soon.”
Although Drizzy didn’t reveal any of the records we may find on the tape, Mixtape Daily is guessing that the leaked “Fall for Your Type” (the record appeared unfinished on the Net several weeks ago) may appear somewhere on there. MTV

Drake’s Thank Me Later Regrets
“The saddest part to me is that I would have made ’9 AM in Dallas’ the intro for the album, but I did it the day of mastering, which is crazy, so it couldn’t make the album. That’s probably my greatest upset, was the fact that it couldn’t be on the physical disc and be a part of that album. ‘Darlin’ ‘ was a loss just because it was never mixed, and every time I hear it in the club, you can never really hear the words. I think the words are the best part of that song. I think Wayne painted such a vivid picture. I tried to come in and add my little two cents at the end.
“Most of the music made it. Most of the music we held for a long time, and the stuff that did leak, it was pretty good references. It wasn’t anything I was too upset about. ‘Shut It Down’ leaking early was painful. I think it could have been a bigger record had it not been out there so long. And ‘Fall for Your Type’ I wish was on there, but I have other plans for that record, so it’s gonna be good.”
